Peterborough Cycling Club rider Brett Harwood has scored a fantastic double victory over the last few weeks, by winning the Dave Ryan 60 mile memorial road race and the St Ives 25 mile time trial. Winning either event would be a great achievement, but to win both shows what great form Brett has. The Dave Ryan road race in Oxfordshire was held in baking heat, but it didn't stop Brett forging ahead on his own. The Deeping man built a good lead before the heat started to take its toll and Brett began to suffer. However with the cushion he had built up, Brett had time to stop and get a drink from a marshall before continuing on to a fabulous solo victory. This win now moves Brett up to second category status. Just to show how versatile he is, Brett followed this up by riding the St Ives 25 mile time trial. Being his first of the year he was not sure how well he would do, but he need not have worried because he scorched round the course with a margin of 1 min 48 secs on the next rider, to make it another superb victory for the Peterborough CC rider.
