John French Wins National Champs |
|
Peterborough Cycling Club’s John French has taken a fantastic victory to become the LVRC national road race champion. The League of Veteran Racing Cyclists is the national organization for cycle racing for the over forties and is a series of fiercely contested competitions, that includes numerous ex-professionals. In their national championships on Sunday, at Warwickshire, John French made all the right moves to set up his win. A group of nine riders went clear at half distance and John was right in the action. No stranger to success, John is a former Olympic speed skater and fifty mile cycle time trial champion, he called on all his strength and experience to force clear a group of three in the closing stages. It was a very tough finish as French and his two rivals sprinted for the line, but John managed to power through for a great win and the national road race title to add to the circuit race championship he won earlier in the year.
