Brett and Dave on form

13th, 20th, 27th April and 4th May 2006

Peterborough Cycling Club riders Brett Harwood and Dave Yarham, are proving to be the men in form, for the opening rounds of the evening time trial championships, with some very strong rides. The first three rounds of the Thursday evening 10 mile series, at Southey Wood, have been popular and been a battle between Brett, Dave and new member Matt Clarkson. Round one was a victory for Deeping's Brett Harwood, clocking 26mins 12secs, with Dave taking second on scratch and first on handicap. Round two saw Dave repeat his result from the previous week, but this time it was Matt Clarkson who took the victory on scratch with 27mins 46secs, from a field that including deafblind Graham Hicks, competing on a tandem with Alex Harrison and recording a very respectable 31mins 06secs. Brett was back on top in round three with 25mins 11secs and Matt took the handicap honours, but Dave Yarham's consistency sees him topping both leagues at the end of April. The second round of the club time trial championship has also taken place and once again Brett Harwood has taken the honours. Brett clocked 34mins 20secs in the Smith Cup 15 mile event, with a strong ride by defending champion Andy Edwards gaining him second spot and Dave Yarham taking third. Fourth placed John French takes the lead in the season long competition thanks to his strong performance in February's Hardriders event, but it is already obvious that this is going to be a hard fought over competion. Next event is the 2-up 25 mile time trial on Sunday 14th May.
