Church, Powell & French Lead The Way |
|
Peterborough Cycling Club’s John Powell, Malcolm Church and John French have been the leading lights for the club, in open events this season and really shown the younger riders how it should be done.
Malcolm has had a great year time trialling and really put in some great performances. Malcolm clocked 1hr 56mins 07secs in the North Notts 50mile event, won the Lincs RRA 25 mile time trial in 58mins 33secs and clocked an outstanding 21mins 34secs in Cambridge’s 10mile event to claim a new club vets record. These results and a 57min 46sec 25 miles in the Hitchen event see Malcolm become the club’s short distance best all rounder and 50 mile champion. Not to be out done John French has had another great season. The former Olympic speed skater has dominated his age group in races locally and nationally, racking up a host of victories. John Powell has capped off a great season for the club with a successful racing trip to France. John competed in four events, taking eleventh, eighth and third before securing a fantastic result on a tough course in the GP Saillagol. The hills weeded out all but the strongest and John sprinted in for a close second place and also took the best sprinters prize to round off a great trip. |
