Peterborough Riders Finding Form |
|
4th and 11th March: Peterborough Cycling Club riders have been in action over the last two weeks and are starting to show good form. The last 2 Saturdays have seen the opening two rounds of the Northants NCRA road race series, run as a handicap, with the fastest riders starting 12 minutes after the unseded riders. Last years winner was Peterborough Cycling Clubs Jeremy Harrison, but recent illness has left him below par and despite managing to be the clubs best finisher in 15th in the opening round, he was unable to compete in the second race. However after finishing in the bunch on week one, Brett Harwood and John French both rode strongly to break into the top ten in round two. One rider from the early groups held on for the win, before the whole field sprinted it out for second. Harwood and French powered up the finishing hill to take 6th and 8th respectively. Sunday saw a class field including former professionals and internationals take to the roads around Corby for the Rockingham Forest road race. John French was once again riding strongly but the race did not split and came to the finish as a fifty strong group. This time it was Deepings Ian Wild who was flying the flag for the Peterborough Cycling Club, as he fought through to take an excellent 14th place in the 40 mile event. | | | Ian Wild | John French |
