July Minutes - 2007/08/20 08:48 The
    DRAFT
minutes for the July Committee Meeting follow:
Minutes of the Peterborough Cycling Club
Committee Meeting
Held on 16th July 2007

Members present:
John McCarthy, Tim Cockerell, Dave Yarham, Norman Hill, Joe Ippolito, John Dawson, Keith Steiner, Richard Roach, Alex Harrison, Gary Gwynn

Apologies:
None received

The Minutes of the previous Committee Meeting were agreed to be a true record of that meeting.

Matters Arising:
The Tour de France trip had been a success – thanks were expressed to Jeremy for his efforts.

Obtaining a trophy for the Bernard Kelly event was still in hand; Alex would purchase when the time was right.

Questionnaire. This would be distributed once Come and Try had been completed.
Action: Secretary

Correspondence:
John Dawson had been contacted by Colin Cope, who was considering organising a Premier Calendar event in the area, and was looking for support from local Clubs. We need to know more, but favoured cooperating in principle.
Action: John Dawson

Come and Try It Time Trial:
All arrangements were in hand for this event on 19 Jul, and many of the necessary tasks on the night were agreed and allocated.
Action: All

AGM/Prizegiving:
It was decided that the AGM would be held on Monday 12th November at 1930 in the Clubroom.
Less easy to decide was the format/venue for the Annual Prizegiving ceremony, as Club members seemed reluctant to let the Committee know their preferences for this. Unless the forthcoming questionnaire throws up a consensus for something different, Committee members would investigate suitable venues for a Sunday lunchtime event, in the New Year, with reasonably priced food.
Action: All

Summer Fun Day:
The Club had been asked if it wished to participate in Peterborough Summer Fun being held in August. It was decided that it was not suitable for a lone effort, but that if Alison Willey used it for a Go-Ride activity, the Club would lend support.
Action: Alex

Membership:
The Committee endorsed one new membership application, and unanimously agreed to offer life membership to John Broughton and Terry Wright.
Action: Secretary

Quartermaster:
An order for new clothing had been submitted.

Road-Race Secretary’s Report:
Jeremy was not present, but it was noted that the LVRC road race had been successful. John Dawson was organising the September RR, and he would need early commitments from members to support the event if it was also to be a success.

Time Trial Secretary’s Report:
There had been 2 Club Championships since the last meeting; Mike Taylor had won the Kelly Cup and Nick Smith the Rimes Cup. In Open events, Malcolm Church had achieved a sub 2 hour 50, and the Secretary a third on standard in a vets 25. Two members had ridden the Sleaford Wheelers Nev Crane memorial 25, John Dawson and Malcolm Church, with Malcolm under the hour.

Press Secretary’s Report:
The web site was up-to-date, and looking good. (Secretary’s note: several favourable comments had been received about the Club web site, including from non-members – thanks Matt).

Any Other business:
John Dawson was keen to see the Club run an open 25 on the Stilton, old A1, roads in 2008, and was willing to organise it if he was not involved in organising a road race. It might be necessary to develop a new course, and there were other implications to be investigated before a firm decision could be made.
Action: John Dawson/Dave Yarham.

Date of the next meeting: 10th September. There being no further business the meeting closed at 2115.
