PCC Sportive - have many club members entered? - 2011/06/24 15:46 As this event is only a couple of weeks away I was wondering if any club members had any particular plans about riding the first ever PCC organised sportive?

I am planning on riding the 'tame' version and would like to set off with some club members as soon after the 8am start time as possible to ensure I get home at a decent time for lunch.

Please say hello via the forum. I'd appreciate the company, encouragement and tips!

Re:PCC Sportive - have many club members entered? - 2011/07/05 08:37 I attended the club night last night, along with four others...

Glad to learn that Ian Wild had 146 entries as of yesterday!

Thanks for the tips about the turning point for the 'Tame' ride being at the feed station. Even I can't get that one wrong...!

Re:PCC Sportive - have many club members entered? - 2011/07/07 13:52 Hi Chris

as of today there are now 175 entries for Sunday and a few others planning to enter on the day.

There are 30 club members riding it. Weather forecast is fine and sunny at 23 degrees so should be good. I have just cleared Morrisons of their bumper packs of bananas for the feed.

Now that I've had a chance to eat my late lunch I thought I'd say how much I enjoyed today's event. After a slow start and walking up Rockingham and Harringworth hills, amongst others, I eventually hit a bit of late energy and rode more strongly through the villages after Harringworth to the Southwick hill top finish.

Must get some 'proper' training in to get round more quickly next time, especially hill work...

I eventually found a couple of riders I could keep up with. I hope they come back next year with more than '20 miles last weekend' in their legs!

A few words of thanks to all those club members who organised and ran the sportive. Many thanks to Ian Wild for having the idea and running it so well. Thanks to the club member who sorted my chain and gears out. I met him again in the village hall but his name escapes me, must be the heat! Thanks to all the club members who shouted words of encouragement, advice and, at one hill, a friendly push in the back. Big thanks to all the cake bakers! An amazing selection of goodies at the feed station!

Cheers to one and all!
