PCC Sportive - which to enter? Tame or Wild? - 2011/06/14 11:07 I sent off my cheque for £10 to Ian Wild last weekend along with my entry form. I have entered the 58 mile version and was wondering how many club members would be doing this 'tame' route as opposed to the 'wild' one of 89 miles. How much more difficult is the longer version? I have done several four hour rides since the start of 2011. Any training tips very welcome!

Re:PCC Sportive - which to enter? Tame or Wild? - 2011/06/14 21:06 Hi Chris, the main difference between the 2 routes is the distance. the long route also takes in Nevill Holt, which you will probably remember as the clubs hill climb from years ago. The short route is still pretty hilly, taking in Seaton, Lyddington, Rockingham and Harringworth. There should be plenty riding both and all of the short route is covered by the riders doing the longer route too, so there will always be riders for company/pacing or beating!

Thanks Ian. I think I'll stick with the shorter route for this year and perhaps have a go at the longer route next year if the event proves popular. With a £10 entry fee it compares very well against other sportives, local or not.

I have printed out several flyers from the main PCC site and placed them around work and emailed a few people who ride bikes or are involved in the local triathlon scene. Hope you get plenty of entrants!
