Mar 09 Minutes - 2009/05/11 06:48 Minutes of the Peterborough Cycling Club
Committee Meeting
Held on Monday 16th March 2009

Members present:
John McCarthy, Richard Roach, Tim Cockerell, David Yarham, Joe Ippolito, John Savill, Chris Harwood, Ian Wild, Norman Hill, Nick Smith.

Apologies:
Nick Sayer, Jeremy Harrison, Terry Wright, Rod Auckland, Keith Steiner.

February Minutes:
The Minutes of the previous Committee Meeting were agreed to be a true record of that meeting.

Matters Arising:
Nil

Correspondence:
• Secretary had received messages from Jimmy McCormick and Alan Shutt that they would not be renewing their memberships for 2009.
• SE Midlands TT handbooks had been received.

Closed Circuit:
Secretary briefed the Committee on progress and actions so far. He had reached a position from which he could see no advance unless high level approaches from BC to Peterborough Council were made. BC may only fund 50% of such projects, so local funding is needed. Secretary is waiting for BC responses.

Bike Week:
Progress on arrangements for the Bike Week Come and Try event were well advanced, the event having been registered with Bike Week. CTT had sent promotional material, and Dave would ensure the event was registered with District. The Council was enthusiastic about promoting the event, and it was hoped to include some activities for riders under the age of 12, possibly involving other Clubs.

NCRA Road Race 4 Apr:
Ian reminded the Committee of the date of this event and his need for supporting marshals, drivers etc. Secretary was unable to do the catering on the day, but would provide the wherewithal to a willing volunteer.

Newsletter:
Secretary aimed to get a Newsletter out soon after the Winter TT series finished, and still needed contributions.

Treasurer’s Report:
Rod was not present, but had sent a message that finances were sound.

Quartermaster’s Report:
Income from the new clothing order was growing.

Road-Race Secretary’s Report:
Jeremy was unable to attend, but Secretary reminded all that he needed much Club support for the June 7th Road Race, and he already understood a number of regular helpers would not be available; he hoped the situation would not worsen.

Time Trial Secretary’s Report:
• Hardriders had gone well, with our new second claim member knocking some 4 minutes off the course record. Nick Sayer’s ride was also worthy of comment.
• The last winter 10 would take place on 28 Mar.
• Both Dave and John had TT entry monies to pay in, but were unable to do so as the Treasurer was absent.
• Dave was running a VTTA 10 at Tuxford on 18 Apr and would welcome helpers for the event.
• Club evening 10s start on 16 Apr; the early start time of 1845 would be strictly enforced.

Press Secretary’s Report:
A notice about hardriders had been submitted.

New Member:
The Committee endorsed an application for second claim membership.

Any Other business:
• Chris thought we should have a web page with Club and Course records listed. All agreed, and thought was needed on how to assemble the required information.
• Nick Smith said that arrangements for Ride for Ryder were on course (20 Sep) and the insurance issue settled.
• Richard understood that Gary intended to organise Club participation in the Oxford to Cambridge charity ride in September.

Date of the next Committee meeting: 20th April.
(Secretary’s note: will be away on that date, so stand-in needed and arrangements to open Clubroom by Joe or Gary also needed). (Further Secretary note: the May Committee meeting will be Monday 11th).

There being no further business the meeting closed at 2047.
