Mar 08 Minutes - 2008/03/21 11:20 Minutes of the Peterborough Cycling Club
Committee Meeting
Held on 17th March 2008

Members present:
Alex Harrison (in the chair),Tim Cockerell, Dave Yarham, John Dawson, Rod Auckland, Joe Ippolito, John Savill, Terry Wright, Richard Roach, Keith Steiner

Apologies:
John McCarthy, Jeremy Harrison

The Minutes of the previous Committee Meeting were agreed to be a true record of that meeting.

Matters Arising:
ß Alex thought that BeWell of Langtoft might be willing to contribute to Open Event sponsorship, and would approach them with a request.
ß Organisation of the NCRA RR on 29 Mar was well in hand, but Ian would welcome further support on the day.

Correspondence:
ß Alex had received details about cycling friendly accommodation in Italy from Dan Broccoli.
ß Rod and Secretary had received NDCA 2008 Handbooks.
ß Rod had received Roadpeace correspondence which he passed to Keith.

Open Events:
Arrangements for the three Open events were in hand. John Dawson had changed the venue from the Sawtry College to the Village Hall, saving some costs.

Capital Expenditure:
This was complete, and money saved as the Scout Hall will allow us to use their tea urn.

Second Claim Members:
As second claim members did not have the full benefit of Club membership, it was agreed that their annual subscription would be £10; charges for events to be either £15 for the year or £2 per event.

Club Off-Road Section:
The web site claims that the Club caters for off-road cycling, but this part of our activities had been dormant for some time. It was agreed that Richard would coordinate investigations into resurrecting this activity. In particular, we needed to establish what benefits the Club could offer to the considerable number of local off-road riders.

Newsletter:
Secretary needed contributions for the next edition by the end of March. Keith agreed to provide a short article on the benefits of our affiliation to Road Peace.

New Members:
One new membership application was endorsed. Secretary would remind members who had not yet renewed for 2008 to do so.

Treasurer’s Report:
Current account was still on the low side at £357 (deposit £274), as capital expenditure costs had been paid, and the outlay on new clothing had not yet been recovered.

Quartermaster:
The new clothing was being distributed, but progress was slow.

Road-Race Secretary’s Report:
Three of our members had been riding the NCRA series, and Brett’s win (second claim for PCC) and other good performances noted.

Time Trial Secretary’s Report:
John French was our fastest rider in the Hardriders events with 56.07. The last of the Winter 10s would take place on 22nd March; support for the series had been reasonable and Dave was prepared to run one again next winter. He had tried out the potential evening 10 course replacement. It was agreed that it would be tried out during the year, with plenty of notice given and appropriate safety measures in place.

Press Secretary’s Report:
Event results had been sent to four of the local newspapers.

Any Other business:
Joe was trying to attract a sponsor for Open Events, and needed guidance on what the Club was expecting. It was agreed to concentrate on this year’s September Open RR, with a view to increasing the prize money and giving the event appropriate publicity.

Date of the next meeting: 21st April; There being no further business the meeting closed at 2046.
