Weekend Action 2nd/3rd

Road Racing:

(Puncture) Pete Moulding was in action again at the 5th Round of the NRCA Handicap Road Races on Saturday (2nd). Peter found it hard in this the Peterborough.c.c run event at Southwick and he said it was the hardest one yet. 5 times up the hill to the finish was really tough he said, but he finished just under 2 mins after the lead group. There were 7 DNF's and many riders between 2 mins & 10 mins behind Peter.

2nd Claim member Brett Harwood was riding the Thames Velo Road Race near Oxford on Sunday (3rd) and Brett notched up his first win of the season in a sprint finish. Brett won the prime on the penultimate lap that finished up a climb of around 500 to 600 meters. Everyone started sprinting from the bottom but Brett followed the wheels until about 200 to go and managed to cross the line first. Then on the next lap (the finish) he tried it again and to his surprise it worked again and he crossed the line to take the win.

Spotives:

Dave Hulatt rode the Quattro Sportive at Wollaston in Northamptonshire and rode the 82 mile version in 4:47:58.

Tim Cockerell rode the Richardson Rumble, St.Ives and found it tough going but finished the course.

Nick Smith, Chris Prior & Simon Hodson rode the De Ronde Van Vlaanderen (Tour of Flanders) in Belgium. This sportive takes you over some of the cobbles and climbs the pro's ride in the Tour of Flanders. All three finished the 145 km ride and had a great weekend in Belgium.

1st 5 mile TT

The first of the 5 mile time trials was held Tuesday 29th March at Southey Woods.Problems struck straight away with temporary traffic lights springing up on the course, so a revised course was quickly suggested running into Ufford and turning left to drop down into Southorpe to pick up the usual ‘10’ course and finish at Southey Woods.

This meant it was around 6.5 miles
